Mobilising Community Assets: Knowledge Exchange Event
One year into Phase 3 of the Mobilising Community Assets to Tackle Health Inequalities research programme, the 12 funded projects met to exchange their learning and experiences so far in an online knowledge exchange event.
After an initial period establishing their cross-sectoral research teams, planning their approach and obtaining ethical approval, all projects are now up and running with their research and data gathering, employing innovative methods to explore the best ways to unleash the power of community assets to tackle health inequalities across a diverse range of settings.
Whilst all projects are unique, some key areas of work were clear in the sessions:
- Coalition and partnership building
- Training, guidance and recruitment of peer and community-based researchers
- Centring lived experience expertise
- Asset mapping and systems mapping
- Creative and participatory workshops
- Events and festivals
- Participatory action research approaches
- Creative research methods
As well as the interesting updates from each project, the sessions were an opportunity for the teams to support each other with advice on overcoming common challenges, such as data sharing and contracting issues, to discover new methodologies, and to make links with researchers working on similar issues.
The key themes from each project were captured creatively by live event illustrator Temujen – Download & zoom in on the images below to see the detail!
