Creating Knowledge Together – MCA Lived Experience Advisory Group contributes to essay collection
Mobilising Community Assets Lived Experience Producer Kiz Manley, and Lived Experience Advisory Group Member, artist and facilitator, Celeste Ingrams, have contributed to a new series of essays published by the British Science Association (BSA) exploring the power of community-engaged research and the importance of bringing missing voices into the research process for the benefit of all.
‘Creating knowledge together’ is a series of essays which aims to strengthen and share the growing evidence base for the impact that community-engaged research can have.
The essay series, supported by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), draws together diverse perspectives from across the community and research landscapes to a broad-ranging collection of personal accounts, experiences and narratives that amplify the voices of those directly engaged in this work.
Kiz and Celeste’s essay ‘A lived experience journey in health inequalities research’ addresses the challenges of making sure lived experience experts are truly included and can flourish in the research system, and share their insights and recommendations for creating a safe research environment that openly addresses power imbalances and is fair and supportive for everyone.
