Creative Health in the NHS

Hear the case for creative health to support patient and staff health and wellbeing. 

Hosted on 21st May 2024, in celebration of Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2024. 

How can we ensure that hospitals are places that are supportive healing environments? Our fascinating speakers share their experience on supporting art and culture in hospitals and how their work supports the health and wellbeing of patients and staff.

  • Ruth Charity, Chair of SE Hospital Arts Network and Arts Lead at Oxford University Hospitals

  • Dr Jane Stevens, Associate Medical Director of Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust

  • Lucy Wells, Arts Lead, Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust (Mental Health)

Chaired by Esther Watts, South East Creative Health Associate. 

This event is hosted by the National Centre for Creative Health Associates Programme. 

This Programme, funded by Arts Council England, aims to deliver a step change in delivering creative health across England, through knowledge exchange and relationship development. 

There is a Creative Health Associate in each NHS England Region, hosted by an Integrated Care Board (ICB). The Creative Health Associate for the South East is Esther Watts, hosted by NHS Sussex ICB.
