Interview with:
Focus: Commissioning effective creative health delivery
In this 3 and half minute video, Gavin discusses Hoots Creative Arts, a creative health organisation working within mental health. The organisation delivers creative activities and programmes across Kirklees including a commissioned service called 'Out of The Blue' for those aged 18+. With a strong evidence base to help support commissioning decisions, the service has been commissioned for nearly 20 years. With increasing demand and levels of complexity of referrals, Hoot works hard on the management of projects, assessing risks, and understanding mental health needs of each participant. Rob Crisp, explains how though creative health delivery cannot be not a cure all, many participants he works with have indicated that it has 'saved their life', as they engage and want to contribute to the world around them.
Commissioned by Kirklees Council and NHS, Paul Howaston describes how the commissioned services is more than just a clinical service or intervention, it is about offering diagnosed service users anchor points which can help support the rest of lives. Jan Ibboston talks about a personal shift in thinking and the realisation of the the power of creativity to engage people and the wealth of evidence which is out there to support creative health delivery.
